Return, rEDUCE, rEUSE, rECYCLE

We are always pushing to be more sustainable and this brings us right back to positive discontent - using our dissatisfaction to fuel positive change.

We’re always working to reduce the amount of packaging and find more sustainable solutions, but you can do your part too by reusing and recycling our bottles, boxes and packaging. All of our boxes, ice packs and printed bits are 100% recyclable.

If you’re looking for some new ideas to help you put our packaging to good use, then below we explain more about how to properly reuse and recycle each and every article.

Return

Return Postage Labels

Say What?

We are piloting a scheme for you to be able to return your insulation & ice packs

How's it work?

After every 5th order, we will send you a prepaid postage label which you can stick on an old box and return any ice packs/insulation you have at home.

Recycle

Tissue paper & Stickers

What is it made of?

Our boxes are made from up to 70% recycled Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) materials and printed using water-based inks.

Where does it go?

They are 100% recyclable in household recycling.

Insulation

What is it made of?

All-natural, 100% British sheep's wool (or denim-offcuts for all-vegan orders), housed inside a recyclable, food-grade polyethylene.

Where does it go?

First, check out some great ideas below on ways to reuse it. Failing that, you can remove the plastic outer and place it in household recycling. The insulation can then be disposed of in household rubbish.

Our responsibly-sourced wool is 100% biodegradable, denim is 85%. They can be home-composted but as each compost pile is different, we can’t guarantee how long it will take.

Ice packs

What is it made of?

Our ice packs are made from 100% recyclable plastic.

Where does it go?

To recycle them, simply cut open the plastic bag and drain the gel down the sink. You can then put the pouch in your household plastic recycling.

What are we working to improve?

We are working with a new supplier to provide ice packs made from reclaimed ocean plastic.

Reuse

Instead of recycling or sending to your landfill, there are some ideas below on how you can reuse your packaging.

We’d love to see what you came up with, share your stories with us on social using #EXALT

Picnics

The natural insulation can be reused to create a chilled picnic bag.

Simply use the insulation pouch and pop an ice pack in and off you go! Both the insulation and ice packs can be reused multiple times. Enough to see you through the summer for certain.

PACKAGE cUSHIONING

The natural insulation is a great protective option for shipping fragile items and gifts. It’s also a great material to protect fragile items during a move.

pETS & wILD BIRDS

Simply stuff any cover material with the natural insulation (outer removed) to create a comfortable and environmentally-friendly pet bed. Or you can use it for smaller insulating jobs including dog houses, chicken coops, etc.

The natural British wool we use in our insulation is also perfect to leave out for the birds to collect during nesting season (February - August). Simply stuff some in an empty mesh bird feeder and it will be slowly emptied by some grateful local birds.
